“The market alone cannot solve the problem--in part because the market has proven incapable of creating large enough insurance pools to keep costs to individuals affordable.”
The Audacity of Hope, by Barack Obama, p.183-185 , Oct 1, 2006
Boy did he sound smart when he wrote that in his book The Audacity of Hope seven years ago! He certainly sounded like he understood markets and insurance risk pools didn’t he?
Well “the cat’s otta the bag” and once again, we’re learning the painful lesson of what happens when the most powerful nation on Earth hands the reins of the free world over to a former Community Organizer who has never managed anything bigger than a Senate office.
Despite the fact that he was elected to “fix the economy”, Obama pretty much just threw money at government unions and a few lousy Green Companies, then put all his energy into his centerpiece heath care reform bill.
Not only that, but he has led his party into the valley of death with him. Somehow he convinced all of them to bend the rules of Congress to force through the biggest law in modern history with 60 democrat votes in the Senate and ZERO republican votes.
Good, bad, or indifferent, Obama and the democrats OWN Obamacare and all the speeches and “Hail Mary’s” in Washington DC will not change that for at least a full generation of Americans.
