A dopey liberal friend on Facebook posted this tribute to our local dem senate candidate with the words:
“She just said the best thing. Possibly ever.”

The first thing I did was summon all my self-control to keep me from commenting in the fashion I always do. I’ve seen that movie, I know how it ends. She comes back with some non-sequitur about Bush and Wall Street bail-outs, then I respond with independent facts that prove she’s a mindless fool incapable of independent thought, and with 24 hours, I’m “defriended.”
Nope, not going to let that happen (again). Today will be different, today I will behave like the professional economist that I am. Today I will break down Warren’s claim with cold hard facts and see if it holds water (that will make me feel better).
I will probably still end up "defriended"...

"We can rebuild our schools for the 21st century, with faster Internet, and smarter labs, and cutting-edge technology. And that won’t just create a better learning environment for students -- it will create good jobs for local construction workers.
Last week, I visited a bridge in Cincinnati that connected Ohio to Kentucky. Bridges need renovations. Roads need renovations. We need to lay broadband lines in rural areas. There are construction projects like these all across this country just waiting to get started, and there are millions of unemployed construction workers ready to do the job."

You may have noticed that I have been writing less lately. It’s not that I don’t care; it’s just that I’m having a tough time listening to Obama talk.
Every time he opens his mouth, all I can think of that old Sammy Davis song – The Candy Man (everyone sing along):
Who can take tomorrow, dip it in a dream
Separate the sorrow and collect up all the cream
The Candy Man, the Candy Man can
The Candy Man can 'cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good
Our president sounds like a broken record -- "the rich must pay their fair share, the Buffet Rule, and oh yeah -- more candy for everyone else if you just vote for me."

“The report that the president is planning to ask millionaires and billionaires to pay taxes at a higher rate than their secretaries pay is welcome news that will be wildly popular with voters. We applaud the president for heeding the advice from progressives that he go big on his jobs plan.”

(A Liberal Special Interest Group)
It looks like Obama will be revealing his new plan for massive tax increases on American businesses and private sector investors today.
No doubt it will please lefty whackjobs like Roger Hickey, Adriana Huffington, and Code Pink, but the truth is, it’s just a big piece of red meat for the socialist crowd who what the government to seize wealth from the people who create it and redistribute it to those who don’t.

"Canada has recovered all the jobs it lost in the 2009 recession and Alberta's oil sands are no small part of that. The province is on track to become the world's second-largest oil producer, after Saudi Arabia, within 10 years. Meanwhile Mr. Obama clings to his subsidies for solar panels and his religious faith in green jobs."

I think one of the problems with Obama’s Jobs Plan is that lack of a clear linkage between the $450 billion he wants to pour down another Stimulus Rat hole and the creation of an actual job.

The agreement we passed in July will cut government spending by about $1 trillion over the next 10 years. It also charges this Congress to come up with an additional $1.5 trillion in savings by Christmas. Tonight, I am asking you to increase that amount so that it covers the full cost of the American Jobs Act.
Barrack Obama

As much as it pained me, I watched every word of Obama’s much anticipated Jobs Speech last night.
Sadly, I heard nothing new. Sure, if you dump $450 billion into a $14 trillion economy, you’ll get a blip, just like we saw with Stimulus One, Cash for Clunkers, the payroll tax cut, and various other temporary “bones” Obama has thrown the economy.
But just like these other political parlor tricks, the gain will be minimal and temporary. It will not lead to the creation of new businesses, sustained innovation, or foster the formation of the kind of new industries that have fueled the American economy in the past.
But that’s not my biggest problem with Obama’s jobs program, my problem is the lack of presidential leadership that this speech personified!

I live up Interstate 195 from Rhode Island. It's a cute little state with a really cool seaside town called Newport.
It has lots of fancy stores, restaurants, mansions, and even John Kerry's new mega-yacht (to avoid paying $500,000 taxes in Massachusetts).
I have been keeping an eye on the emerging fiscal mess in Rhode Island since the democrats took over Congress in 2007 and the house of cards came tumbling down.
There was one town that fired all it's school teachers and in Providence, I heard that 100% of all of the Real Estate taxes collected were being sucked up to pay public union worker pensions.
Quite frankly, I never understood why Rhode Island would have so many problems. They do have a lot of wealthy residents, low crime, no urban rot or massive illegal alien problems. They have high taxes, but typically liberals love paying high taxes, so that shouldn't be a big problem.
Wrong!
As I have been reporting for some time, there is a very short leash between organized crime and big labor. In Rhode Island, there is also a very short leash between the democrat party, the mafia, and the public sector labor unions that fund their political campaigns.

"There is no silver bullet and I have not heard one proposed by anyone in Washington or beyond that there is a silver bullet to help our economy grow faster or create jobs."
Jay Carney
Obama Press Secretary
August 4, 2011
After promising that his $800 billion stimulus package would be the jobs “silver bullet” that would keep unemployment under 8%, Obama and his spokesman now claim that there are no silver bullets that can arrest the chronic unemployment crisis that has been lingered for years.
That’s said, experts generally expect Obama to propose more government spending and even fatter government payrolls as the cornerstone of his long promised Job’s Speech on Thursday night.
